Louisiana Film Prize Festival is October 9 through 12. Here's a closer look at one of the Top 20 films, "Angel of Joy."

"Angel of Joy" is a drama directed by Andrew Bryan. We asked Andrew a few questions about his short film.
What is your film about?

A single mother begins her own investigation when she receives a mysterious phone call from her daughter, Joy, who has been missing for several months.

What kind of message are you trying to get across in your film?

We’re really just trying to spread awareness about missing children in the U.S. (see www.missingkids.com for more info) and encourage that holding onto hope, even when it may seem crazy or ridiculous, is better than having no hope at all.

Where in Northwest Louisiana did you film?

We filmed in Belcher and at Caddo Lake.

What were your impressions about Northwest Louisiana, specifically the Shreveport-Bossier area?

People were very warm and welcoming. The rural areas where we shot were beautiful and had so much character.

Would you film in this area again?

Yes.

$50,000 is on the line! What do you plan on doing with the money if you win?

We will be donating all the money we raised to make the film (roughly $7,500) to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). After that, we will be paying our crew that volunteered their time and talents to make the film possible. Anything left over will probably go towards some student loan debt.

Why should someone vote for your film?

You should vote for our film because you believe Angel of Joy is the best film and because you support our cause to help missing children and their families.
