There's nothing like a hot date to get your mind off a reality show elimination.

So is American Idol 's Pia Toscano bouncing back with a record label opportunity and perhaps a new romance, too?

A source tells E! News that Toscano and Ballas went on a date Friday night to seafood restaurant Gulfstream in Los Angeles, and we're told it was the 22-year-old songbird who initiated the meeting.

Toscano went through Dancing With the Stars contestant Chris Jericho to get in touch with Ballas, the source says.

We're told this was the couple's first outing together, but as they share a love of music—Ballas has a disc of his own dropping Tuesday—you never know whether sparks might fly.

Or maybe a duet.
