Red River Crest Prediction Goes Up Again

As of this morning, the National Weather Service's Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service says the Red River will now crest in Shreveport at 36.5 feet by Sunday afternoon.

The American Red Cross has shelters set up at Southern University-Shreveport, at the LSU-S Red River Radio Building, and at Elm Grove Elementary School in Bossier Parish.

Roads near the river have also been closed. Clyde Fant Parkway is shut down from Shreveport-Barksdale Highway to Crockett, and and from Milam to Stoner Avenue. Arthur Ray Teague Parkway and LA 537 near Stillhouse Bayou in Bossier Parish are also closed until the water recedes.

This latest prediction is another foot higher than yesterday's, when it was expected to rise to 35.5 feet by mid-morning Saturday.
