I don’t think any of us will forget 9/11… The morning the news broke that the United States was under attack, I was working in Cedar Rapids, IA and we all stood in the news room, clustered around a little bitty TV screen watching coverage of a plane crashing in to the World Trade Center. I was so young at the time. I remember thinking that I would never truly feel safe again. As the events of the day unfolded, the President made his way to Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA. I’m an Air Force brat and that’s the base my father was stationed at for the majority of my life. It was on that day that I truly understood what a hero my father was, as well as all of the members of our armed forces and first responders past and present. We will never forget.
