Robert Bond, a Bossier City native who was arrested last year after the remains of his wife Annie Bond were discovered, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

In January, Bond, 53, pleaded not guilty to the second-degree murder of wife Annie Bond, 46. The plea deal reduces the amount of time Bond could receive if convicted from life in prison without the possibility of parole to up to 40 years in prison with hard labor.

According to KSLA, Judge Mike Nerren, who oversaw the Bossier Parish District Court proceedings for Bond's case and accepted his plea deal, said, "The reduced charge does not take away from the seriousness of the crime."

Robert Bond and wife Annie Bond were reported missing in November 2013 by friends and family. He was later located in Mississippi suffering from what was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Days later, Annie Bond's charred remains were discovered near Webster Parish's Bayou Dorcheat and positively identified.

Bond will be back in court July 22 for his sentencing hearing.
