After the SyFy Channel's original movie "Sharknado" netted huge ratings and became the talk of social media last week, it was only a matter of time before the inevitable happened. And now, it's happened!

SyFy announced Wednesday that plans are afoot to film a sequel to the already-cult classic for a 2014 airdate. No word yet as to whether Tara Reid or Ian Ziering will reprise their roles in the sequel, which will be set in New York.

SyFy is getting fans involved by having them tweet a possible subtitle to @SyFyMovies using the tag #Sharknado. The best submission will be used by SyFy as the subtitle for "Sharknado." (Hey, how about "The Sharkshank Redemption"? No? Oh, well...)

SyFy executive vice president of programming and original movies Thomas Vitale issued a statement which read, “Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm -- on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel. What we can guarantee is that 'Sharknado 2' will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year.”

We can't wait! Stand by your TVs and keep watching the skies...
