‘Sharknado’ Sequel Gets Title

After more than 5000 submissions were sent in to SyFy and the producers of "Sharknado", a title for the eagerly-awaited sequel has been chosen.

TheWrap announced that "Sharknado 2: The Second One" will be the title of the sequel which will take place in New York and is scheduled for release next year.

SyFy EVP of Programming and Original Movies Thomas Vitale said, "Since Twitter played such a huge role in the success of the original movie, we wanted to use that platform to ask our fans to name 'Sharknado 2.'"

He went on to say, "This response is another reminder of how Sharknado has become a pop culture phenomenon. We want to thank all our viewers for their wonderful contributions to keeping up the shark-mentum."
