A rep for actor Shia LaBeouf confirmed to E! News that he is being treated for alcohol addiction in the wake of his actions last week during a Broadway performance of "Cabaret".

"Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction," said the rep, adding, "He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery. There will be no further comments made at this time."

LaBeouf was charged last week in New York with two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, a count of criminal trespassing and one count of harassment. Witnesses say that the actor was smoking cigarettes during a performance of "Cabaret" at Studio 54. He continued his bizarre behavior after security escorted him from the building and after police arrived.
