Once again, I love a good sale and this one is April 30th! Check it out! The kids from the Cavanaugh Center are hosting a garage sale at the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse’s main office to help replace funds cut by state funding.

Join us Saturday, April 30 from 8:00 am – 1 pm at the Council Office on Fairfield

The kids of the Cavanaugh Treatment Center will host a Garage Sale Saturday, April 30 from 8 am – 1 pm at the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse’s main office. The funds will be used for supplies for recreational activities for the clients. The Council’s main office is located at 2000 Fairfield Avenue at the corner of Fairfield Avenue and Olive Street.

In February 2010, the state cut more than $700,000 from the from Council’s budget, which reduced the number of available beds for those who cannot afford treatment. The impact has led to turning away clients who desperately need help to recover from addiction and has increased the waiting lists for our programs.

The Cavanaugh Treatment Center is a 70-bed licensed treatment facility designed to treat adolescents ages 12-17 and mothers addicted to alcohol and/or other drugs. The Cavanaugh’s programs are one of a few in the state that offer these services. The treatment programs include:

Adolescent Inpatient Program: A 24-bed short-term inpatient treatment program for adolescents

Adolescent Residential Program: 22-bed long-term residential treatment program for adolescents

Family Treatment Program: A 24-bed residential treatment program for women and their children
