The Red River District will once more let the good times roll Saturday, February 18, from 11:30am – 3:30pm, and again the following Saturday, February 25, as Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR) and the City of Shreveport throw the first of two Pre-Parade Parties celebrating the Mardi Gras season.

“The Krewe of Centaur and Gemini parades are two of the biggest events during Shreveport’s Mardi Gras season,” says Marissa Carbine, SPAR Event Coordinator for the Red River District. “With so many tourists and residents coming downtown to enjoy the parade, we wanted to provide a safe, family-friendly option to get everyone in the parading state of mind.”

Street performers from Spinner Entertainment will juggle, hula-hoop, and stilt-walk while DJ Willie Boom and local band favorite “What the Funk?!” provide musical entertainment. Kids are invited to jump in the bounce house, to create a craft with Mardi Gras beads, and to learn about Mardi Gras bead safety from United Healthcare.

Food offerings will include mobile food vendors, Top Dawg Hot Dawgs, STEM, and Rib Tip Express, along with RRD tenants Nicky’s Mexican Restaurant and Fully Stacked Bar and Grill. Bartenders at Fatty Arbuckle’s and Fully Stacked will have drink specials all day. Bon Temps Coffee Shop will offer visitors drink specials as well as Mardi Gras coffee creations.

The Red River District is under the Texas Street Bridge, conveniently located next to the Eldorado parking garage with handicapped accessibility on both the west and east ends of the district.
