UPDATE: Shreveport Police Officer Runs Red Light and Hits Car Driven by 20-Year-Old

UPDATE 3:15 PM 2/3/15: No tickets were issued for a Shreveport police officer who ran a red light and struck another driver on Sunday, Feb. 1.

A Shreveport police officer was going more than double the speed limit when she ran a red light and crashed her patrol car into a car driven by a young man.

It happened Sunday at Gilbert and Olive. The officer, Marie Jones was headed west on Olive, but ran the red light at Gilbert because she was distracted. 20-year-old Corben Montgomery was headed south on Gilbert and his car was t-boned by the patrol unit.

Montgomery had two passengers in his car. No one was seriously hurt.

Jones told the responding officer she thought her light was yellow, but was unsure because she looked away from the roadway. But the report shows the officer was going 62 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.
