Barely a year ago Shreveport's Kendrick Farris hadn't decided if he'd try to make the Olympic team for the third time. Now the the only question is, will the former Byrd High and LSUS weightlifter finally get that coveted Olympic medal?

In a major step toward making the 2016 American squad, Farris captured first place at the Pan American Games in Toronto, winning the weightlifting gold medal in the 94kg (207lbs) division with a total of 366kg (807lbs).

Farris lifted 163 kg in the snatch, then 203kg in the clean and jerk to take the top spot.
