Six people have been arrested after a New Year's Eve operation in Shreveport.

The Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Task Force Street Level Inderdiction Unit conducted a 'Shots Fired' operation during which agents address suspects ringing in the New Year by firing guns instead of fireworks.

Agents made several citizen contacts and one traffic stop. During that stop, which was at an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Peach Street, officers were confronted by an armed suspect later identified as 45-year-old Robert Allen. He was a passenger in the back seat of the vehicle, along with a 10-year-old child. The front seat was occupied by an adult male, an adult female and an unrestrained infant.

When agents approached the vehicle, they saw Allen brandishing a small pistol. They quickly confronted him in an attempt to disarm him. Because there were children inside the car, agents attempted to disarm Allen physically. One grabbed Allen's gun, while another moved the 10-year-old in the back seat to safety. Then he entered the back seat in order to shield the infant while assisting the first agent.

Allen was successfully disarmed and taken into custory. He was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for being a felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest and being an in-state fugitive. Allen has a lengthy criminal history that includes arrests for drugs, weapons and violent crimes. One agent was examined at the emergency room for an injury he suffered during the arrest.

Five other arrests were made during the operation:

36-year-old Albert Battson - being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number

29-year-old Demario Hamilton - possessing marijuana, possessing a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance

29-year-old Jeremy Hopkins - being a felon in possession of a firearm

18-year-old Tarenzo Davenport - possessing marijuana, possessing Valium

22-year-old Travante Myles - being an in-state fugitive

All suspects except for Hopkins were booked into CCC. Hopkins was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
