Thursday, November 13, is a busy day at Bossier Parish Schools. Here's a look at a few of the events.

In recognition of Guinness World Records Day, Airline High School Girls' PE classes will participate in the 9th Annual World Sport Stacking Association Stack Up. Thousands of participants from around the world will take part. The goal is for 600,000 stackers worldwide to participate, which would break last year's record of 555,932. Sounds fun, right? Think about this, though -- sport stacking promotes hand-eye coordination, brain activation, fitness, teamwork and speed. Airline students will be involved from 8-9 a.m., 9:30-10:30 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

It'll be a big day for Benton High School's Cameron Horton. He'll be signing his national letter of intent to play baseball at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. The signing ceremony is being held in the school library at 12:30 p.m.

Then, at Bossier Instructional Center on Airline Drive at 3:30 p.m., nine outstanding Bossier Parish teachers will be awarded grants totaling $15,000 at a ceremony and old-fashioned Coke float party. The grants come from the newly-created Sydney Biedenharn Educators' Endowment Fund. The Biedenharn family founded the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Teachers will be talking about what the grand money will be used for, and thank the Biedenharn Foundation for the investment it's making in Bossier Schools.
