If you tuned to Comedy Central Wednesday night to catch a brand-new episode of "South Park" only to get a rerun, there's a perfectly good explanation.

It turns out that a power outage at South Park Studios caused creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to miss their broadcast deadline for the first time in their seventeen seasons on the air.

In a statement, Comedy Central said, "On Tuesday night, South Park Studios lost power. From animation to rendering to editing and sound, all of their computers were down for hours and they were unable to finish episode 1704, ‘Goth Kids 3: Dawn Of The Posers' in time for air tonight."

The network instead ran and live-tweeted the classic "Scott Tenorman Must Die" episode. "Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers" has been rescheduled to run Oct. 23.
