What do you have planned for your children over the Thanksgiving holiday? What about Harvest Camp from Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR)? Here's the scoop courtesy of Becky Berry!

Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR/City of Shreveport) announces the following upcoming events:

  • Wednesday, November 12th, SPAR is hosting a Health Fair at Lakeside Community Center (2200 Milam) from 10 AM to 12 noon.  The event features health screenings, health vendors and healthy eating information.  The event is free and open to the public.  For more information on this event, contact Lakeside Community Center at 318-673-7812.
  • Friday, November 14th, SPAR is hosting a “Salute to our Veterans” at Airport Park Community Center (6500 Kennedy) from 9:30 AM to 12 noon.  The guest speaker for the event is Louis Johnson, Chief of Training for Shreveport Fire Academy.  The event honoring our Veterans will also feature a special tribute to our fallen troops by Woodlawn High School ROTC Color Guard.  The event is free and open to the public.  For more information on this event, contact Camille Webb at 318-673-7845.
  • Thursday, November 20th, SPAR is hosting a Harvest Program at Princess Park Community Center (931 Baker) beginning at 10 AM.  This event will celebrate the Thanksgiving season.  The event will also recognize the fall 2014 interns from Grambling State University.   The event is free and open to the public.
  • SPAR is now accepting registrations for our upcoming Harvest Camp.  Our annual Harvest Camp is held the week of Thanksgiving at all of our community centers.  The camp is Monday through Wednesday (November 24 – 26) from 8 AM to 6 PM daily.  The camp is for school-aged children (6 to 17).  The camp is free but space is limited.  Space is filled on a first-come-first-served basis.  Pre-registration is required (registration is available at all community centers).  The deadline to register is November 17th.  The camp includes lunch and daily activities from exercising, games, and arts and crafts to field trips.  For more information, please contact Kenneth Cornelius at 318-213-0430.
