“Spartacus” Star Dead At 39

Andy Whitfield, who played the title role on the Starz movie channel's "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", died Sunday at the age of 39.

His manager Sam Maydew says Whitfield died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in Sydney, Australia.

Whitfield was readying to do a second season of the show when he received his diagnosis 18 months ago. Starz announced in January that actor Liam McIntyre would take over Whitfield's role.
