Stage Center continues to bring award winning productions to life with the latest from their School of Performing Arts when 'Shrek: The Musical' takes the stage at The Emmett Hook Center in downtown Shreveport.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home; Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Jared Watson directs & designs the production, with choreography by Tamara Mayer and musical direction by Mary Kate McLaurine.

Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears. "Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek..

The 37-member cast, comprised entirely of students from Stage Center’s School of Performing Arts includes Ricky Bills, Xander Bills, Lachle Boniol, Olivia Butterman, Cameron Cason, Logan Digilormo, Maxwell Ellis, Rachel Evans, Jordan Farris, Meredith Fisher, Sophia Gappo, Chloe Garcia, Mia Gorin, Julianna Gouthiere, Fordham Hammond, Meghan Hood, Skylann Jousma, Claire Kevil, Daisie Mabry, Bella Mainiero, Lucas Mainiero, Marshall Merrit (Shrek), Rhys Millen, Madeline Mullins, Owen Osborne, Cade Ostermeyer (Pinocchio), Marguerite Papa (Princess Fiona), Christian Perkins, Julia Sartori, Macy Schmelz, Selena Simmons (Dragon), Marcus Thomas (Donkey), Anna Thompson (Gingy), Nolan Tomasek (Lord Farquaad), Peyton Turner, Vivian Vekovius, and Robert Zane Wyss.
