LucasFilm and Disney have announced that they have found a director for their latest movie in the "Star Wars" franchise, and it's...

J.J. Abrams!

The current director of the rebooted "Star Trek" series beat out such names as Ben Affleck, Brad Bird, Guillermo Del Toro and David Fincher, according to The Wrap.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" will be the franchise's first new film since 2005's "Revenge of the Sith", directed by series creator George Lucas.

Abrams and his production company, Bad Robot, are also responsible for several TV shows, such as "Revolution", "Person of Interest" and the just-concluded "Fringe".

There has been no comment from LucasFilm or Disney yet on this report. "Star Wars: Episode Vii" is scheduled for release sometime in summer 2015.
