State Climatologist: 30% Chance of Snow in Shreveport

It was 75 degrees on Tuesday, but things will be changing later this week.

The first cold snap of 2017 is on the way. State Climatologist Barry Keim says it will be the coldest one we've had so far this winter season.

Keim says a cold front is moving into the state today, which will drastically cool things off every day until Sunday. He says a storm forming in the Gulf will increase the chance for wintery precipitation in north and central Louisiana on Friday.

"There's a fair chance we could see some snow showers across North Louisiana including Shreveport and Monroe. It's about 30%. We also could see some sleet across Central Louisiana."

Keim says it won’t be cold enough for snow in south Louisiana, which means more rain. He says the entire state should keep an eye on this system because things could change quickly.
