It's called an E-DUI and Washington State is the first to pass it into law but many more states are looking to follow. We've all seen that person driving down the road swerving from side to side and sure enough they're almost always on their phone. Well cops are now looking to crack down on this unsafe practice by hitting you in the wallet where it hurts!

Gov. Jay Inslee (D) told The Blaze “When you are driving with a cellphone, you are a more dangerous driver than if you are driving drunk with a .08 blood alcohol level.” Troopers report that they've seen a 32% increase in deaths on the road from distracted drivers from 2014-2015 so something needed to be done.

For the first few months troopers will be issuing warnings when they pull people over but soon will start handing out tickets. Included in lesser tickets will be people participating in other distractions, such as smoking, grooming, eating, or reading while driving.
