A Suicide Squad sequel may be closer than we think. Joel Kinnaman, who plays Rick Flagg in the film, says he's "definitely" on board for Suicide Squad 2.

"As far as I know they're writing the script and I think the plan is to shoot it sometime in 2018, but that could change," he tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Director David Ayer won't be returning for the second installment, as he'll be busy working on Gotham City Sirens starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

Kinnaman says without Ayer, he hopes for a director "who is great with character and that's able to ground the story and maybe put these characters in a more normal situation. It would be really interesting to see these crazy characters interact with regular people as well."

As for Kinnaman's Suicide Squad costars -- Robbie (Harley Quinn), Will Smith (Deadshot), Jared Leto (Joker), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Jay Hernandez (Diablo -- maybe he survived...), Karen Fukuhara (Katana) and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc) -- we'll have to see who's on board to return for part two.
