Susan Boyle, who captured the world's heart with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" on "Britain's Got Talent", revealed to the UK Observer that she has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, a mild form of autism.

Boyle told the Observer that she saw a specialist in Scotland last year about a childhood diagnosis of brain damage. The specialist told her that not only did she have Asperger's, but that she also had a higher-than-average IQ.

"It was the wrong diagnosis when I was a kid. I was told I had brain damage," she told the paper. "I always knew it was an unfair label. Now I have a clearer understanding of what's wrong and I feel relieved and a bit more relaxed about myself."

She went on to say, "Asperger's doesn't define me. It's a condition that I have to live with and work through, but I feel more relaxed about myself. People will have a much greater understanding of who I am and why I do the things I do."
