[ORIGINAL STORY]  Shreveport police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a man critically wounded.

Corporal Breck Scott tells KEEL News that just after 8 this morning, patrol officers were called out to the 400 block of Clyde Fant Parkway to reports of a man waving a knife.

An officer told the man numerous times to drop the weapon, but he refused. Then he allegedly charged at the officer with the knife in his hand. The officer pulled his service weapon and fired several shots, hitting the man in the upper body. The suspect was taken to University Health with life-threatening wounds.

Corp. Scott says the north- and southbound lanes of the 400 block of Clyde Fant are shut down while detectives collect evidence and talk to witnesses.

No names are being released at this time. The wounded man is identified only as a black male in his late 30's.
