Meet Alex G, who does a pretty darn credible version of Macklemore's Thrift Shop. She took some liberties with the words. I have to wonder why she edits some things yet still references a 'skeet' blanket??? Maybe she doesn't know what that means?
The song "Thrift Shop" is remarkable. What makes it so is because Macklemore and Ryan Lewis didn't have a record contract when they produced the song. That 'no record contract thing' won't last long, though.
Funny or Die did a video with the guys in a mock record meeting featuring Paul Scheer as a conniving, condescending record exec.
Have you REALLY listened to Macklemore's Thrift Shop? The first few times your hear it, it feels like pure pop candy: catchy and totally singable. The next couple of listens, you start catching some of the lyrics, like the one about spending $50 on a t-shirt. So, is this song bubble gum or is it lyrical genius?
