Until I got involved with Mardi Gras locally, I didn't know there were literally events year round! Get in the Mardi Gras spirit and Let The Good Times Roll at any of these local events!
I had a BLAST at the Gemini Coronation this past Saturday night even though it was kinda of bittersweet because my brother-on-law passed on the Captain-ship (sp??) of Gemini. Both he and his lovely wife Jolene did an amazing job for the Krewe in the past year.
I'm getting totally excited for the Krewe of Gemini's Coronation tomorrow night! My brother-in-law, Robby Woods, will be relinquishing his title as Captain and we couldn't be more proud of his auspicious reign! All Hail!

Here's the latest list of Mardi Gras events courtesy of Captain of Captains Doug Kochenderfer. Yes, we do have Mardi Gras in August... except I don't like to wear as many beads because they get hot, then you sweat and your neck turns green and purple;)
Every once in a while, people from outside of Louisiana ask me why we have Mardi Gras events in July. They think Mardi Gras is a week in the Spring before Lent. And it is, after a fashion... But we crazy people in the Bayou state celebrate all year long with soirees, Coronations, Bals, fund raisers to help our community, Flotilla and more!
I know, I know! It's hard to believe but Mardi Gras season is already in full swing! Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez! Here's the latest calendar for your perusal;)

Wow! Last night was an interesting night on TV. I had a Krewe (Atlas) meeting last night so we didn't get home until 10pm... at that point you have to make a decision... American Idol or the season finale of Grey's Anatomy... I chose WRONG!!!! As Keith said, "Grey's Anatomy is beyond jumping sharks... they're jumping WHALES!" What was up with the forced musical???
I love make up and I especially love MAC make up... I used to have a lot of fun dressing up and playing with new looks before I got all married and tied down... But I still love to play around for special occasions, like Mardi Gras bals, coronations, etc... I found the coolest tutorials on YouTube... I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Yesterday, we rode in the Krewe of Highland Parade with the Krewe Keith and I belong to, the Krewe of Atlas. We had an absolute blast! And as you know, it was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! We shook our butts to Madonna, Britney, Gaga, Ke$ha and Jimmy James! I'm so loving this song;) Momma Monster gives it two paws up! Enjoy the pics;) Oh yeah, and we also started working on the new hit single, 'I Jingle When I Rock!' thanks to Lea Ann and her awesome jingly Mardi Gras bracelets! Happy Mardi Gras!
