What happens when you mix termites and a school gymnasium?  A really, really big problem and one a south Louisiana school is facing.

Termites have attacked the Napoleonville Primary School gymnasium and caused so much damage, the building had to be shut down.

Assumption Schools Superintendent Earl Martinez told the Louisiana Radio Network a colony of Formosan subterranean termites damaged the gym, however the bugs have not affected any other school buildings.

While more inspections are planned, the district called in an expert from LSU for advice on the situation.

One option is scrapping the wood from the gym.  It will be costly, but the superintendent doesn't see any other realistic choice.
