The classic 2004 tear-jerker The Notebook may be turning into a weekly series, that is, if executives at The CW have their way.

E! News reports that a script is in development and that Nicholas Sparks, who wrote the book the movie's based on, is on board as an executive producer.

The proposed show will be based on the book and the movie and will follow "the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie" tracking the beginning and future of their relationship "against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina."

The motion picture version of The Notebook starred Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, with Gena Rowlands, James Marsden and James Garner co-starring.

Sound like something you'd watch?
