A cat may have nine lives, but the moles of The Departed will experience their own resurrection as double-dealing TV criminals.

The 2006 crime-thriller film, which won the Academy Award for Best Film (one of many accolades), is set for a streaming-reboot thanks to Amazon, Deadline confirmed today (August 23). Vertigo Entertainment, Initial Entertainment Group and Plan B Entertainment, which worked in tandem to produce the film, will develop the televised story alongside Amazon.

The Departed series takes its title from the celebrated film, which is set in Boston and loosely based on the trials of Whitey Bulger. But it will move to Chicago, instead. And where the movie's story chronicled tension between the Irish mob and Boston police, the new series will set up conflict between the fuzz and a notorious Latino drug gang. Still, the crux of the story — two moles on opposite journeys — will remain the same; one drug lord will work his way into the cops' trusted circle, the other will go from officer to undercover gang member.

The film starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg and Vera Farmiga. Oh, and it of course popularized this cranberry juice-related medical breakthrough:
