Area krewes from around the Ark-La-Tex converged in the ball room of the Eldorado Casino in Shreveport Sunday, January 14, 2018 for the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux's Annual Jazz Brunch!

Barkus and Meoux, otherwise known as the 'Animal Krewe,' delighted guests with fabulous food, an omelet bar, mimosas and a silent auction perfect for animal lovers! In addition to the presentation of this year's KBM royalty ambassadors, they raffled off a date night for two including dinner, flowers and a champagne limo ride!

The theme was 'Pawrets of the Cattabean' and as expected, there were some amazing costumes! Check out pictures from Barkus and Meoux here!

This year's royalty ambassadors include: Captain: David Frye, King and Queen Eric and Daphne Childress, Dukes: Gary Mackey, Jeff Tarpley and Blake Walker, Duchesses: Jean Johnson, Kim Jensen and Carol Rochelle and Prince and Princess Kade Childress and Regan Ryan.

The true 'royalty' for the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux are the animals! On Sunday, January 21st at Rotolo's Pizza on E. 70th Street in Shreveport, you can register your fur baby in the Pet Royalty Raffle. For $1.00 per vote, your pet can be the 2018 King, Queen, Duke or Duchess of the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux and strut their royal stuff in the Pet Parade Sunday, February 4th! Make sure to get your friends and family to come out and pull together to help your fur baby win. Stuffing the ballot box is highly encouraged!

Just remember that every dollar raised goes to support Barkus and Meoux's mission: to develop, foster and promote programs to benefit all animals, as well as promote responsible pet ownership. This is achieved through five programs which include: emergency vet assistance, supporting area shelters and rescues, the feral cat program, their spay and neuter program and assistance with retired military working dogs.
