Bills, kids, work, car issues, money woes, school....

Just reading that sentence is kind of stressful, and I apologize.

We all deal with stress in some way or another, and it is no surprise that where you live affects your stress level. People in bigger cities have to deal with heavy commutes, pollution, the constant buzz of people everywhere, no parking in the brutal concrete jungle...

Sorry...I did it again.

But living in a bigger city doesn't necessarily mean that you will be more stressed out. Smaller communities have their own set of issues.

They used several criteria to measure the stress levels of each city including:

  • Percentage of population with a long commute (over 30 minutes)
  • Unemployment Rate
  • Hours worked
  • Population density
  • Percentage of income spent on rent
  • Percentage of population without health insurance

The higher any of these are, the more stressed the people of the place are.

So what are the Top 10 most stressed-out cities in the Bayou State? Believe it or not, Shreveport and Bossier City didn't even come close! The Top 10:

  • 1. Jeanerette
  • 2. Walker
  • 3. Kenner
  • 4. Gretna
  • 5. Bastrop
  • 6. Bogalusa
  • 7. Westwego
  • 8. Hammond
  • 9. New Orleans
  • 10. Baker

Our fair city of Shreveport came in at #42, and Bossier City sits pretty at #55.
