We all know about Santa Claus and what he brings to Christmas, but do you know about Krampus?

Krampus, as described by Tanya Basu of National Geographic, is the counterpart of Santa Claus, and supposedly based from Norse Mythology.

Krampus isn't exactly the stuff of dreams: Bearing horns, dark hair, and fangs, the anti-St. Nicholas comes with a chain and bells that he lashes about, along with a bundle of birch sticks meant to swat naughty children. He then hauls the bad kids down to the underworld.

Krampus has become more popular in America, but no one celebrates Krampus like Austria. Check out their Krampus parade.

I am convinced that Shreveport or Bossier needs a Krampus Parade. We celebrate all things happy and festive, but Krampus is a great contribution to the Holidays. Sometimes you need more encouragement to be good all year long.
