This is heartbreaking. Gibran David Martiz Diaz, a contestant on the third season of 'The Voice Mexico,' was found dead in Veracruz, Mexico, this past weekend. He was just 22 years old.

Diaz, who had been missing since Jan. 7, was kidnapped from his home by armed men dressed up as police offers, The Hollywood Reporter claims. On Saturday, Jan. 18, a shootout occurred between the gunmen and security officers, where Diaz's body, along with the body of an unidentified minor, were found at the scene. The two had been murdered before the shootout occurred. The suspects were killed during the fire fight.

Wisin & Yandel, the reggaeton duo who served as Diaz's coaches, tweeted out a heartfelt message upon hearing of the former contestant's untimely death:

"Our deepest sympathies go out to the family, friends and fans of Gibran. We'll miss you brother," the message reads in English. "May God keep you in his glory."

Sadly, this is not the first horrific tragedy to strike 'The Voice Mexico.' In December 2012, Jenni Rivera, a coach on the show's second season, passed away in a plane crash. She had been on her way to an appearance on the show.

R.I.P., Gibran David Martiz Diaz.
