Tracy Morgan may be on the mend from his near-fatal accident last summer, but inside sources say that the comedian's condition may be more serious than we realize.

Benedict Morelli, Morgan's attorney, tells E! News that the former star of "30 Rock" and "Saturday Night Live" is "doing better", but faces a long recovery from a traumatic brain injury and broken bones.

"Mr. Morgan is a fighter," Morelli told a group of reporters assembled outside the federal courthouse in Trenton, NJ, where attorneys for both Morgan and Walmart, owners of the truck responsible for the crash, met to discuss future date for a hearing.

"He's fighting to get better," added Morelli.

"If there's a chance to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he is going to try to do that. We just don't know. But is he doing much better?

"He's doing better."

Morgan and others were hit by a Walmart truck June 7 as they were traveling along the New Jersey Turnpike after performing a show in Delaware. The truck's driver, Jimmy Roper, has pleaded guilty to four counts of assault by auto and one count of vehicular manslaughter in the death of fellow comedian James "Jimmy Mac" McNair.
