A man and his two children are being treated for injuries after his truck was submerged in Red Chute Bayou at Sligo Road.

Bossier Sheriff's Office patrol deputies were called to the bridge under construction around 4:45 p.m. Saturday when the truck ended up in the bayou after the father was instructing his teen son how to drive in the Sligo Country Store parking lot.

The Dodge 1500 truck rolled down the steep embankment into the water and drifted about 100 feet before being mostly submerged in the water. The father, son and another young passenger were able to safely get out of the water and back on land.

Louisiana State Police troopers and firefighters from South Bossier Fire District 2 arrived and transported the truck's occupants to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

BSO divers also responded to the crash scene to assist in removing the truck from the water. They had to wait until this morning to get the truck out.
