More than a thousand mourners gathered at the St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church today to bid farewell to former Delaware attorney general Beau Biden, the oldest child of Vice President Joe Biden, NBC News reports.

Biden passed away last week from brain cancer. He was 46.

Today's funeral service concludes a three-day mourning in Delaware, which began Thursday when Beau's casket lay in honor in the state Senate chamber, followed by a public viewing held at St. Anthony on Friday.

Funeral attendees included politicians from former President Bill and Hillary Clinton, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Prior to serving as attorney general, Biden served in Iraq as an officer in the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. He leaves behind his wife, Hallie and their two children, Natalie and Hunter. A flag at the White House was at half-staff Saturday in his honor.
