Now that I think about it, this was the first year in recent memory I never got cold during Mardi Gras season.

Maybe there's something to this whole climate change thing. This year, if you attended any parades in the SBC, you probably noticed it was hot. No, not melt-your-face-off hot that we'll be experiencing sooner rather than later, but it was certainly warm compared to recent years.

Now it looks like Fat Tuesday may have broken a record as the hottest Mardi Gras.... Ever.

It's a close one, as the current Louisiana record was set back in 1917 at 83 degrees. In Shreveport, the reported temperature yesterday was 82 degrees, but fluctuated a little up and down throughout our state.

Here's to hoping next year's Mardi Gras is more like 1899, when the lowest temperature in the state was 30 degrees.
