When disaster strikes, it's inevitable that we see both the best and worst of people. With thousands of families displaced from their homes due to flood waters, there's a lot of rebuilding that needs to take place. That being said, there are people who prey on victims.

We've all heard the tale... a family is desperate to get their home renovated and a company comes in and promises them the moon, bids the project lower than other companies, takes your hard earned deposit and leaves... Leaving said family with a much smaller bank account and a home that still needs extensive repair.

That's why it's so important to deal with local companies. First off, they're the backbone of our local economy. Secondly, it's not hard to find someone who is reputable. It's as easy as calling our area Home Builders Association. They may cost a little more and it may take a little longer than what the other guy *says* they're going to do, but there also not going to leave town with your life savings.

During our continuous coverage of the flood of 2016, we got the chance to speak with Brian Hammons from James M. Brown Builders who shed some light on what families displaced by the flood waters can expect.
