Iggy Azalea has definitely been the story of the music world this year. We are crushing hard on this Australian beauty. Amethyst Amelia Kelly, better known as Iggy Azalea, was born on June 7, 1990 in Sydney Australia. The name Iggy Azalea comes from a combination of her childhood dog "Iggy" and the street she grew up on, "Azalea Street." She was raised in Mullumbimby, New South Wales in a home that her father built from the ground up with mud bricks.

When she was fourteen she began rapping with two other girls in the neighborhood. In her eyes, they were the TLC of Mullumbimby. The other girls didn't take it as seriously as Iggy. Just before her 16th birthday she decided America was where her musical dreams were going to come true.

Iggy told her parents she was just going on vacation with some friend, but after arriving in Miami she told them she was staying. She lived in Houston and Atlanta as well. She is currently on an O visa, which is awarded to immigrants who exhibit extreme potential in a specific field. For Iggy, that was the arts.

While living in Atlanta, Iggy met someone from Interscope Records who encouraged her to move to Los Angeles. In 2010, that's exactly what she did. The following year, she began posting videos of her freestyle wrapping on YouTube. In September of that year, she released a full-length mixtape called Ignorant Art, with it came homemade music videos.

In 2012, she reached out to rapper T.I. to give her direction on her debut album. She then released an EP called Glory. At the time she was independently signed to a label called Grand Hustle Records. The label however, described Iggy as a "free agent" and not a full-on client.

Iggy toured with Rita Ora on her Radioactive Tour in early 2013. In February of that year, she signed with Mercury Records. That April, she signed a solo record deal with Island Def Jam Records. Iggy then opened for Beyonce on the Australian leg of her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in July 2013.

Her hit single "Fancy" was released on March 4. The song was inspired by the movie Clueless and made her just the fourth solo female rapper to ever top the Billboard Hot 100/ Iggy worked with Ariana Grande on her song "Problem" which landed at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, thus making Iggy the first person since The Beatles to hold the top two spots simultaneously.

The album, The New Classic, was released April 21, 2014.

Personal Life

Iggy is currently dating Nick Young of the Los Angeles Lakers. The two have been together since 2013.

In the past, Iggy dated American rapper ASAP Rocky.. The two met through a mutual friend, producer Chase N. Chase and dated from 2011 to 2012. She has the title of Rocky's breakout mixtape, Live. Love. A$AP, tatooed on her fingers. Rocky apparently has tattoos dedicated to their relationship as well. After the breakup, she had the "A$AP" part of her tattoo crossed out.
