Prominent TV stars taking new roles are generally ominous signs, so is Vikings about to suffer an axe? Westworld has three new additions to the park, as Season 2 casts Vikings favorite Gustaf Skarsgard and more as new series regulars.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Skarsgard will take the Season 2 regular role of Karl Strand, described as “a white-collar guy comfortable in the field,” while Tyrant alum Fares Fares will similarly act as regular Antoine Costa, a tech expert with an objective perspective. Betty Gabriel will have a recurring role as Maling, who is “trying to restore order on the ground.”

The piece notes that Skarsgard will continue to appear as series-long Vikings character Floki through the fifth season this fall, though production has long-since wrapped. Westworld is not necessarily a guarantee of his Vikings exit, as star Clive Standen also splits duties between the Norse history drama and NBC’s Taken.

Elsewhere of Westworld Season 2, producers have kept the lion’s share of details under wraps, though the spring 2018 “Journey Into Night” is expected to answer practical questions about the park, potentially even a date for the show’s setting. Ed Harris will be back to play Season 2 on extreme mode (no guarantee for William), while Talulah Riley and Louis Herthum have also been upped to series regular. We’ll also finally get answers on the mysterious “SW” park, and hopefully learn what became of poor Elsie and Stubbs (the latter of whom might be visible in the first trailer).

Other new additions include Leftovers alum Katja Herbers and Fargo big bad Zahn McClarnon, along with Neil Jackson and American Gods star Jonathan Tucker. Tucker will play Major Craddock, a military officer whose presence suggests the robot uprising will meet significant resistance.

We’ll see what other Westworld Season 2 details come online in the coming weeks, so watch the first trailer below and stay tuned.
