Whats App-enning: SafeTrek

Unlike the past "What App-enning" app, RUN PEE, this app costs a little money.

But what does it do? It keeps you safe whenever you are in unsafe situations. The SafeTrek website says, "Let’s face it. Life forces you into some pretty scary situations, and you may not feel comfortable carrying pepper spray, a gun, or dialing 911. But if your smartphone is with you, we’re with you. And if your instincts turn into a real emergency? We automatically send police to your exact location."

How does it work? Apparently, whenever you feel unsafe you open the app and place your thumb on the button. Once you are in a safe area you release your thumb from the app and type in a personal code. If you turn out to be unsafe you simply release your thumb and do not type in your personal code. Once that is done the authorities will be notified and sent to your area.

As someone who lives alone I definitely see the benefit for having this app.
