Shortly after announcing he'll no longer do meet-and-greets, Justin Bieber made a statement that's sure to break the hearts of millions of his fans.

"If you happen to see me out somewhere know that I'm not gonna take a picture I'm done taking pictures," he posted on Instagram Tuesday night. "It has gotten to the point that people won't even say hi to me or recognize me as a human, I feel like a zoo animal, and I wanna be able to keep my sanity."

He continued, "I realize people will be disappointed but I don't owe anybody a picture. and people who say 'but I bought ur album' know that you got my album and you got what you paid for AN ALBUM! It doesn't say in the fine print whenever you see me you also get a photo."

The response from Bieber's fans so far has been divided, with one commenting, "Just saw your concert in Boston, you signed up for this job. You created the fan base. We all support you. I don't think that it is right to deny your fans the pleasure of taking a picture with you, that to them was a chance of a lifetime. Yes I understand if they are overly aggressive and make you feel uncomfortable that you sent them a picture, but to deny those who support you no matter what you get your self into. We want you to succeed and be happy. You are a celebrity, this is your life. You have to accept that and treat your fans with kindness."

However, another fan posted, "Can u imagine having hundreds of ppl run up to u every minute when ur out in public its probably very overwhelming for him! He cant take a picture with everyone he see's obviously stop hating on someone when u have absolutely no idea what he's going through look at it in his point of view..."

Bieber later wrote a response to one fan in particular, which read, "Braekess you are so right btw your Instagram name is fire. Years ago it was impossible to even take a picture at anytime not everyone was accessible to a camera now everyone has a camera phone and Now it's just a different thing. If you think setting boundaries is being a douche I'm the biggest douche around but I think it's smart and will be the only way I last. I wanna enjoy life and not be a slave to the world and their demands of what they think I need to do!! I love the fact that I am able to make people happy but cmon if you truly were in my position you would understand how tiring it is ( boo hoo Justin get over it) I'm going to keep making decisions I feel are fit for my growth and no human being will make me feel bad for it."

Bieber's current world tour is scheduled to wrap up Nov. 29 in London.
