Wiz Khalifa is at the center of controversy following his first pitch at a Pittsburgh Pirates game on Wednesday night (Sept. 27). Wearing a “Legalize It” T-shirt, the rapper pretended to toke on a fake marijuana joint before throwing out the first pitch of the game.

While the weed gesture seems harmless enough, it caught the attention of MLB officials who were not pleased with it at all. On Thursday (Sept. 28), the Pittsburgh Pirates organization apologized to the MLB and to the fans who were offended by it.

MLB spokesman Pat Courtney issued a statement, which reads, "Marijuana is a (prohibited) substance in all of our drug programs, and it is unfortunate this situation occurred. The Pirates have informed us that this should not have happened."

There were some mixed reactions to Wiz's weed gesture on social media. You can read some of them below.

As for Wiz Khalifa, he doesn't seem to mind the flack that he's getting for his pitch, judging by the photo he posted on his Instagram page. He even wrote, "Perfect pitch."
