No one does gumbo like Louisiana, and now the rest of the world knows this truth.

The MVP of the Walk-On's Independence Bowl has been decided. World-renowned chef John Folse came to Shreveport with his team with one goal on the mind. That goal is the create the world's biggest gumbo ever cooked.

When the gumbo was finished, it weighed in at a whopping 6800 lbs. Check out how it breaks down: 985 pounds of shrimp, 600 pounds of catfish, 230 pounds of crabmeat, 50 pounds of crawfish tails, 480 pounds of roux.

All in all, the gumbo was able to feed 11,000 hungry fans at the game!

Proceeds from the sale of the gumbo, just over $50,000, went toward the Fisher House to help house military families of patients in military and VA hospitals.

Congrats to Chef John Folse and the fine folks at Independence Bowl.
