An Overnight Shooting in Shreveport Has I-20 Closed Near Downtown
An apparent shooting that happened overnight in Shreveport has I-20 westbound closed just outside of downtown Shreveport.
The event happened just after 2 am this morning and nearly a dozen units responded to the call. As a result, the westbound lanes of I-20 are closed starting at Fairfield Avenue.
When I approached the scene this morning on the way to work, all lanes of traffic on I-20 West were being forced to exit onto the Fairfield Avenue exit. From there, I was able to take Murphy Street to Pierre and then get back on to I-20 westbound as highlighted below.
Obviously, this isn't the way that commuters want to start their morning, but make sure you pack your patience and leave a few minutes early to allow for the detour and any other delays. Let's give SPD the room they need to collect any needed evidence to make sure we put an end to the violence.
The Shreveport Police Department Won't Be Responding To These Calls Anymore
