10 Artists Who Light Louisiana’s Fire Based on This Heat Map
These artists are red hot in the state of Louisiana.
Recently my husband and I went to a 311 concert in Dallas. This was a bucket list item for him since he loved their music growing up. I, on the other hand, could only recognize one song. Maybe it's the slight age difference between the two of us, but I think it's more based on the fact that we grew up in two different regions of the US. I say that because one of my girlfriends who grew up in Texas freaked out when she found out we were going to the show. I grew up in California, hubby grew up in Texas.
My theory is that music or artists are bigger in some regions compared to others.
Thanks to YouTube, we now know there is some truth to that. The New York Times recently looked to YouTube and their geocoded streaming data to create heat maps from some of the biggest artists out there. Turns out some artists are burning hot in some regions and flickering in others.
Based on this info, who are the biggest artists in Louisiana?
Kevin Gates
No surprises here. Kevin Gates is a rapper from Baton Rouge and dominates the state in popularity. He burns the hottest in Louisiana and parts of Arkansas and Mississippi.
DJ Khaled
He's truly "da best" in the state of Louisiana. He's pretty hot across most of the state, especially in the northeastern corner.
Chris Brown
Given his history, you don't want this to be true, but it is. Chris Brown has some pull in Louisiana, mostly in our corner of the state.
Future
This Atlantic rapper is biggest in the south. For Louisiana he is most popular in the top half of the state, particularly in the north east.
Rihanna
She release Pon de Replay over a decade ago and continues to be a big player in the music industry ever since. She is big in northeast Louisiana.
Beyonce
Queen Bey is biggest in some southern parts of Louisiana, but also heavily in the northeast corner of the state.
Michael Jackson
Long after his departure from this earth, we are still in love with Michael Jackson.
Nicki Minaj
Voluptuous gals of the south rejoice! Nicki Minaj is quite popular in Louisiana, mostly in our neck of the woods and in the southernmost parts.
Gucci Mane
We knew you were digging his new song with Selena Gomez for a reason. Gucci has a decent following in northwest and northeast Louisiana.
Kodak Black
Although not the most popular on the block, Kodak Black does have a pretty big pull in the northeastern part of the state.
