4th of July Fun in Shreveport/Bossier
It's time to celebrate the birth of our great nation and there's no shortage of events to attend!
Downtown Shreveport is the place to be for the KTBS Freedom Fest Finale from 12 pm - 11 pm Thursday. Activities include a car show, the Brookshire's Steak Cookoff, a life jacket giveaway, a B-52 flyover and more all culminating in a ginourmous fireworks show at 9:15 pm.
Head to Harrah's Louisiana Downs for the Exotic Animal Races featuring camels and ostriches and their race day card, always a favorite with locals! Activities run from 12 pm to 6 pm Thursday with a special kid's zone, food trucks and an all day, all you can eat buffet. The first race takes place at 3:15 pm.
The annual Firecracker 5K Race for Research kicks off at 7:30 am Thursday morning at Mall St. Vincent in Shreveport. The event features a free health expo, live music, and face painting, all to raise money for research to battle spine disorders such as scoliosis and alternatives to spinal fusion.
Kickoff your 4th of July holiday Wednesday night at DiamondJacks Casino with the one and only Bret Michaels of Poison. Doors open at 7 pm and the show starts at 8 pm for this 21+ event. Tickets are still available for $40.
Head to the East Bank District and Plaza Thursday from 4:30 - 10 pm for a free event featuring Louisiana favorite Wayne Toups. The festivities are all ages and will feature beer and food trucks and bounce houses.
