Folks making their daily trek down Shreveport's 70th Street saw something a little new added to the landscape, with a nearly eight-foot-high chain link fence surrounding the parking lot of the Wyndham Garden hotel, making one of city's best known buildings look more like a prison than a boarding spot.

The long standing structure, which had previously operated under the Sheraton and Clarion hotel flags, is - and will remain - closed for up to a year as the building will undergo extensive renovations before reopening.

KEEL spoke with one member of the Metropolitan Planning Commission who said that he was aware of the closing and upcoming rebuild, but did not know if remodeling would involve a new owner.

KEEL also called the local numb er for the Wyndham Garden and received a recorded message announcing the closing, pending work and reopening, but did not mention whether the hotel would remain part of the Wyndham Hotel Group.
