After Texas Representative and Democrat Al Green was censured for his act of protest during the President's speech to the House, leaders in the Democrat party are regretful at how members of the party handled their reaction to Trump's speech.

Other Dems Call Green "Selfish"

Representative Al Green (D-TX) stood up on March 4th inside the House Chamber during President Donald Trump's address to the House. Rep. Green shouted aloud in protest of the Republican move to cut Medicaid funding, which was met with a warning from a Louisiana Representative and Speaker of the House that further disruption would result in Green's removal from the floor.

One anonymous Democratic official was quoted telling CNN that "people are pissed" and went on to call Rep. Green's actions "selfish."

The House voted to censure Rep. Green for his actions, 10 democrats including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). Rep. Jeffries told reporters they made the vote "without any official recommendation, and people made a decision based on what they view to be the right thing to do connected to their district."

Rep. Green Weighs in on Speaker Johnson

Rep. Green told reporters he was willing to take whatever punishment would fall to him. The next day on the floor fo the House chamber Rep. Green told the floor "I have no ill feelings toward the speaker, none toward the persons that escorted me away from the floor."

The Censured Representative admitted to what he did, saying "...I did disrupt. And I did so because the president indicated that he had a mandate."
