The University of Texas did this to LSU a few years ago and now Alabama is getting the same treatment. But Alabama is handling the disrespect a little differently.

Back in 2019, when the Tigers traveled to Austin to play the Longhorns, all of the visiting tickets were in the upper deck sections. This even included seating for the Golden Band from Tigerland. Nosebleed seats for the visiting band.

It's happened again. But this time, Alabama has confirmed to AL.com that its band will not be traveling to Austin for the game because of this seating snub.

“Due to the seating location and configuration of the visiting institution’s ticket allotment at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the Million Dollar Band will not make the trip this weekend for the Alabama at Texas football game,” UA Athletics said in a statement to AL.com.

Typically this does not happen in the SEC. The conference has an agreement that visiting fans will have access to tickets in both the lower and upper levels. But the Big 12 has no such agreement and all of the Alabama visiting seats are in the upper decks.

The LSU marching band did show up for the game in 2019, but had to take the hike to seats in the upper deck. Alabama has decided not to do that.

At the time, Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte said “we moved the visitors section from the lower bowl to give our students a contiguous student section thus creating a fantastic atmosphere for in DKR.. if a visiting team elects to bring their band must sit in the seats allotted for visitors.”
